Certain
hopes relating industrial growth, foreign trade, currency revenues, employment
were cherished concerning free economic zones. However these zones had not
found wide use in the African countries because of the lack of money,
undeveloped infrastructure, corruption in the state sector, internal political
instability, interstate conflicts.
